Next-Generation EASy IV Flight Deck Ready to Take Off
The newest version of Dassault Aviation’s aptly named EASy flight deck will take flight this year on the new Falcon 6X ultra widebody business jet. It’s already flying as a retrofit on several Falcon 8X aircraft, and soon will be available to upgrade the Falcon 7X. The cockpit also will be delivered on new Falcon 8Xs.
EASy IV has received rave reviews from customers, including one pilot whose company installed it on a Falcon 8X in December. He said he was impressed by the flight deck’s bright, easy-to-view displays, and that it helped reduce pilot workload.
"This is a big step for safety," he said. “Especially on the ground where you can now see airport traffic on the navigation display. It's a big improvement in foggy or low light conditions, allowing you to see even transponder-equipped fuel trucks. The ADS-B is also great for identifying traffic in the air and enhancing situational awareness during visual approaches."
Like earlier versions of the EASy cockpit, which set a high bar when it debuted two decades ago, the EASy IV is based on the latest Honeywell Primus Epic integrated avionics system.
EASy IV – the EASy stands for Enhanced Avionics System – lives up to its name by giving pilots a cockpit that is both highly capable and intuitive. It features vivid displays, more processing power, new capabilities, and added safety features.
The EASy IV flight deck is all about enhanced situational awareness, streamlined operations and improved operational safety.
Enhanced Situational Awareness
EASy IV sets the standard for situational awareness by giving pilots one of the best views ever of where they are and where they’re headed in three dimensions. It incorporates an advanced interactive navigation (INAV) map that makes it easy to see airspace restrictions and terrain resolution. Combined with a new interactive vertical situation display (VSD), the INAV also gives pilots a clear view of thunderstorm development.
