RDR-4000M 3D Weather Radar System
Overview
The RDR-4000M 3D Weather Radar System is the most recent addition to Honeywell’s family of advanced airborne weather radar systems. This industry leading weather radar technology utilizes a patented 3D volumetric buffer to provide greater passenger and crew safety and comfort, increased efficiency, and enhanced performance through better strategic and tactical decision making, and reduced pilot workload.
This version of the RDR-4000 was designed specifically for military applications.
In addition to featuring all of the hazard avoidance benefits of the commercial weather radar system, the RDR-4000M includes high-resolution ground mapping (HRGM), Doppler beam sharpened precision ground mapping (PGM) and sectored skin paint modes.
Whether you know this weather radar system as RDR-4000M or IntuVue, this 3D weather radar system improves hazard avoidance and increases safety for military, air transport and business jets operators.

Key Benefits
- Decreases system weight by up to 30%, yielding $10,000 per year per aircraft savings
- Improve passenger comfort: IntuVue helps avoid turbulence-related incidents, which cost airlines an average $150,000 each
- IntuVue enables more efficient routing around weather hazards. Early adopters have reported a 50-percent reduction in lightning strikes and the costly inspections they require
- Lower training costs: IntuVue’s system is intuitive for younger pilots, increasing retention and making it easier and cheaper to train users.
- Reduce pilot fatigue: Because IntuVue sees things that other radars miss, pilots fly with better information and greater confidence
- • Improves strategic maneuvering for rerouting sooner due to weather
- • Reduces risk of encountering hazardous weather by providing predictive warnings for hail, lightning and windshear
