SPS-500 Precision Positioner
Overview
The SPS-500 precision positioner is a compact, lightweight, and military ruggedized design, ideally suited for acquisition, pointing, and tracking applications where Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) are key constraints. The SPS-500 is a modular and adaptable design,that supports a variety of electro-optical and RF sensor payloads on shipboard, ground, and airborne platforms.
Direct coupled brushless DC torque motors and high accuracy resolvers supported by kingpost bearing assemblies, provide superior control accuracy, low friction, and high stiffness, under harsh dynamic conditions. Integrated LOS stabilization using high reliability Fiber Optic Gyros, compensates for large-amplitude, low frequency disturbances from moving platforms in maritime, ground, and airborne applications.
Optional features include: 32-bit absolute optical encoders; sliprings/FORJ for continuous travel and high speed data transmission. The SPS-500 is controlled using standard industrial grade servo control electronics or optional MIL-qualified control electronics, and is easily tuned for optimum performance with different payloads.
The SPS-500 weighs 35 pounds, and supports payloads up to 60 pounds.
