Mark V-A EGPWS: Proven Legacy, Advanced Capabilities
Since 1996, the Mark V EGPWS has helped protect countless lives. Now, the next generation Mark V A carries that legacy forward with earlier alerts, enhanced situational awareness, advanced runway safety and dependable performance—even when satellite signals are unavailable.
Earlier Hazard Awareness
Advanced algorithms deliver faster, more precise terrain and obstacle alerts, giving flight crews more time to respond.
Enhanced Runway Safety
The Mark V-A improves runway safety with surface awareness and alerting capabilities, including real-time traffic conflict detection.
Improved Alert Accuracy
Smarter alerting logic minimizes unnecessary warnings, improving pilot confidence in the system and enhancing operational efficiency.
Modern, Supportable Platform
Updated system architecture ensures long-term support, 25% better reliability and easier integration.
Honeywell Aerospace continues its century-long commitment to improving flight safety with the Mark V-A, aviation’s most advanced and capable enhanced ground proximity warning system. Mark V-A gives flight crews another set of “eyes” in the cockpit, focused exclusively on safety through every phase of flight.

The MKV A Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) is Honeywell’s current production replacement for the legacy MK V EGPWS. It retains the same core safety functionality while providing modern hardware, improved reliability, and long term supportability.
The MK V reached end of production in 2014 due to parts obsolescence. Honeywell concluded repair, service, and support on 31 December 2024. As a result, continued long‑term operation of MK V units is no longer supportable.
After April 30, 2026, MK V Terrain Database subscription renewals will be discontinued unless the following applies to you:
- - An approved transition plan to MKV‑A exists, or
- - There is an agreed plan to sunset or retire the aircraft
- - There is not a path to MKV-A for your aircraft via an SB/IPC/STC.
